ayikoAs the Board Chair of the Board of Directors for the Foundation for African Empowerment (FAE), Rogers Ayiko  brings in a diverse blend of professional and academic background in medicine, international health, public health, tropical medicine and business administration with enhanced conceptual and analytical capabilities. A career history of enhancing team performance and productivity at operational, tactical and strategic levels; improving work processes, procedures and environment; enhancing value systems; developing high-value partnerships and generating value for key stakeholders.

Dr Ayiko earned his Master of Management in Business Administration from Uganda Management Institute and a Master of Science in International Health from University College London, at the Institute of Child HealthKarolinska Institutet and Charite Universitatsmedizin Berlin. Also, he is a holder of a Diploma in Tropical Medicine & Public Health from Charite Universitatsmedizin Berlin and a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery from Mbarara University of Science and Technology.

He has a successful track record of more than 10 years in a range of capacities. He is experienced in designing and scaling up high impact interventions for women and children’s health focusing on health systems strengthening at community, district, national and regional/supranational levels. Dr Ayiko has worked on various technical and policy issues with National Heads of Reproductive Maternal Newborn Child and Adolescent and Nutrition and Health Systems Experts across the East Central and Southern Africa Region. He provided technical backstop to the UNICEF supported child survival and development initiative in Abim District, Karamoja, Uganda.

He is competent in policy and systems analysis; proposal writing; programming; monitoring and evaluation; documentation of good practices; innovations capacity building; translation of organizational vision into operational guidelines; advocacy and report writing.

Dr Ayiko is currently the Principal Health Systems and Policy Analysis Officer and Head of Reproductive Maternal Newborn Child and Adolescent Health and Nutrition at the East African Community based in Arusha. He is married to Sophy and they are blessed with two children.

Dr Ayiko  joined the FAE  Board of Directors in 2016 as its Vice-Chair and assumed the Board Chairmanship in January 2018 .
